Just what we needed on MLK day. Kamala is in. This from ABC and FOX.
California Sen. Kamala Harris announced Monday that she will run for president in 2020, joining an increasingly crowded field of Democrats seeking to challenge President Donald Trump. Harris’ announcement, made on “Good Morning America,” comes following months of speculation surrounding the Democrat, a rising star in the party who was elected California’s junior senator in 2016 after two terms as the state’s attorney general.
This from FOX and Harris on Twitter.
Harris also released a campaign video on Twitter where she said, “Truth. Justice. Decency. Equality. Freedom. Democracy. These aren’t just words. They’re the values we as Americans cherish. And they’re all on the line now.”
There you have it. Another Democrat running for President. What a surprise. Let the scrutiny of her record as AG of California. Her attack on ICE, Religion, etc. How this plays out will be fun. Some Progressives aren’t impressed with her record as an AG.
University of San Francisco associate law professor Lara Bazelon recently argued in an op-ed piece that the perception that Harris acted as a “progressive prosecutor” during her tenure as the district attorney of San Francisco and then California’s attorney general contradict her actions.
“Time after time, when progressives urged her to embrace criminal justice reforms as a district attorney and then the state’s attorney general, Ms. Harris opposed them or stayed silent,” Lara Bazelon wrote in the New York Times.
In closing, this from Harris.
“The future of our country depends on you and millions of others lifting our voices to fight for our American values. That’s why I’m running for president of the United States,” Harris says in the video, titled “Kamala Harris: For the People” — the theme of her campaign. “I’m running to lift those voices. To bring our voices together.”
Let the fun begin. What say you?
