Did you see it? I call him the Happy Chef. The guy who banned the hat but turned around and said I’m sorry, so sorry. This from FOX.
J. Kenji López-Alt, the chef and owner of Wursthall in San Mateo, Calif., shared his latest message on Medium.com on Friday, and apologized for the way he communicated his initial Twitter remarks, in which he said, “It hasn’t happened yet, but if you come to my restaurant wearing a MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same as if you come in wearing a swastika, white hood, or any other symbol of intolerance and hate.”
He added that the restaurant would not be following through on his initial statements, in which he said he would be refusing service to those wearing MAGA hats. “Wursthall will continue, as it always has, to serve all customer regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual preference, gender orientation, disability, or political opinion — so long as they leave hate, anger, and violence outside of the doors of our restaurant.”
Did he forget that Republicans, including Trump followers eat out and spend a lot of money? Even in Blue states Republicans have to eat. I know I just upset Progressives. But this guy is now realizing what stupid comments like this will do to his business. “If you’re comfortable sitting next to a MAGA wearer I’m probably not interested in serving you either, Some of those that wear red caps, are the same that burn crosses”. the pious chef tweeted.
In closing, I’ve had a working relationship with thousands of chefs and yes a few of their elevators are stuck in the basement. But to not realize that his comments would drive business away just blows my mind. Will his apology save the business he probably chased away? Only time will tell. What say you?

I have been writing on and off the past 46 years. First piece I ever wrote was my high school underground newspaper. A father of two twenty somethings. Happily married and presently living in Ohio.
